Ordo Salutis

© 2005 - Joseph M. Gleason

Men:

Lost in sin

With no thirst for God,

In Adam I lost my sight.

In sin I died;

The grave opened wide

To usher in eternal night.

Cast away --

What more can I say?

There was no life in me.

My heart was black;

I could not turn back;

I had no desire to be free.

Women:

That’s when the Lord banished the night;

Jesus declared, “Let there be light!”

All:

Just like Jesus called Lazarus

out of the grave,

The Savior revealed

His great power to save!

He said “Come forth and live;

Death no longer reigns.

So give God all glory and praise!

Men:

Far from home

The prodigal roams

With no merit at all.

He wasted grace;

There’s mud on his face;

He’s covered in sin from the Fall.

Tearless eyes

Confirm he despises

Every thought of the Lord.

He needs our prayers

That grace will be there

To show him the God we adore.

Women:

That’s when the Lord banishes night;

Jesus declares, “Let there be light!”

All:

Just like Jesus called Lazarus

out of the grave,

The Savior reveals

His great power to save!

He says “Come forth and live;

Death no longer reigns.

So give God all glory and praise!

The Lord revives the heart with new life

And the heart responds in faith;

The Lord forgives, and forever lives

To assure we forever are saved!

Just like Jesus called Lazarus

out of the grave,

The Savior reveals

His great power to save!

He says “Come forth and live;

Death no longer reigns.

So give God all glory and praise!

Give God all glory and praise!
