Embrace Eternity And Yet Beware!
Joseph M. Gleason – March 11, 2004
Embrace eternity and yet beware!
Heaven cannot be gained by works of men;
The Lord’s virtue alone takes people there.
Good men of old served God but did not dare
to think themselves yet fully free of sin.
Embrace eternity and yet beware!
Heaven’s meant for Jesus Christ and those who share
his life but don’t trust self to help them win.
The Lord’s virtue alone takes people there.
Wicked men in foolish pride believe they wear
white robes, yet think their robes alone too thin.
Embrace eternity and yet beware!
The seams weaken not – no fault of man may tear
Heaven’s robes God fastens with Jesus’ pin.
The Lord’s virtue alone takes people there.
To “add” to Christ’s gift is to court Satan’s lair.
No one gains Heaven by how “good” they’ve been.
Embrace eternity and yet beware!
The Lord’s virtue alone takes people there.
