Western Kickboxing and Christian Devotion? Are they compatible?

Hello everyone. I've been a Christian thirteen years. But my zeal for the Lord has really been uplifted since the Lord opened my eyes to the doctrines of grace In June 2004. I have studied Reformed theology intensely, spending a small fortune on books, cd, etc, to help me to grow and mature in my knowledge of our Lord in every way possible. It has really made an incredible difference in my practical day to day walk with Jesus. Every moment, there is a song of praise or a words of adoration to the Lord. Whatever I do, Jesus permeates every area of my life. I give Him all the glory for His imputed righteousness.

Recently, someone introduced me to non-contact kickboxing to help me to stay fit. I am in two minds regarding this. My first impression is that having a healthy body is important to having a healthy mind, which in its turn is important to our commitment and regularity to Bible study, evangelistic efforts, etc. However, I've been reading from a certain Christian source (not Reformed) that martial arts, particularly its affiliation to, and its emphasis on engaging in eastern philosophies and spirituality, i.e., channeling chi energy, etc, could lead us into the occult. Which I believe is true.

Having said this, western kickboxing has no such attachment to the eastern spiritual element that undergirds other martial arts. Yes, there are high kicks combined with western boxing, but harnessing chi energy or spiritual dogmas have no place in western style kickboxing.

I would like to know what the brothers and sisters think. Would it be a good idea taking classes in western kickboxing primarily as a fitness plan. Thank you.
